After Two Years of Travel, I'm Coming Home
E.T. PHONE HOME
sayyyy whattttt?
I know... you thought I would be traveling forever right? ... WRONG!
I am coming home to the UNITED STATES for the foreseeable future !
WHEN?
SOON... like TOMORROW! Yup, I just packed and board my flight tomorrow morning (April 2019). I fly from my last destination of Taiwan to the U.S! That may seem sudden but its been planned for a few months now!
OK...WHY?
Do I need a reason to return to my home country? Nahh, but some reasons include..
I miss my friends and family dearly, I want to spend some quality relaxed time with them!
I miss salad and vegetables (Not really Asia's specialty...)
I am ready for my own space again, to have a kitchen, and to unpack my bag!
At some point I would like to return to a (semi) routine again
I am not made of money and should probably start earning and saving again..
I am exhausted, utterly exhausted, in a good way but.. exhausted
WHERE?
Hey there... good question...
It will actually be awhile before I am in one place really. It is funny because I am coming 'home' but I actually will be on the go (shocker).
San Fransisco for three weeks to stay with my little sister Kathleen and see her new life there
Then to my best friend Marta's Bachelorette party in Georgia
Florida for a few days to see my parents
Back to Roatan, Honduras for a month! ("I thought you said you were coming home?" .. Roatan is home and I must see my little Meg Jones)
Florida again for quality time with Mother and Father
OHIO for the foreseeable future (not Chicago) to try to figure out my life. Bringing me to my next point...
WHAT?
Honestly, I am not 100% sure. I am going to spend the summer in Ohio attending a few of my closest friends weddings and being around people I love. This is where the majority of my favorite people are and the place that feels the most like home at the moment. As for work.. my ultimate goal would be to create a career for myself that is mobile and allows me to be creative. Involving freelance writing and/or photography. Creative writing and photography are two things I am passionate about and would like to explore and learn more about.
HOW?
On a plane.. duh
"How do you feel about coming home?"
-everyone I've ever known (like ever) has or will ask this (I would too) so I am going to do my best to answer
I feel so many types of ways. One stand out feeling is READY
I am ready to come back. What an incredible feeling that is, to feel ready to do something. So often we exit places or trips or chapters of our lives not ready to leave. I am ready to have my own space, and to be back in my home country. To not wake up everyday and have to make a million decisions about where to go, eat, sleep, do etc!
A wee bit NERVOUS
Ironically I am more nervous to come back to the States than I was to leave the States. On the road the unknown was the name of the game, coming back to the states to create a more permanent life is a different story. This unknown causes my nervousness. #onedayatatime
Another feeling is AWE
I feel a bit in awe of these two years. You would think it would have sunk in but I do not think it has. All the places I have gone, quitting my job, the people I have met, the things I have learned, the ways I am different. It is so much to process, and be proud of.
Extreme EXCITMENT
Do you know who and what I love? My people and my home country. I am so excited to get to see my friends and family. It has been awhile since I have been able to spend ample time with them. When you are away for so long by such distance, your appreciation for the important people in your life grows in a unique way, and I am excited to show them this.
The United States is pretty bad ass. I am never not excited to return to my home country, a country I am very proud to be from. The people are kind, there is so much to explore, living is easy and they speak my language (literally and figuratively)
So yea, I am coming home woohoo!
I suppose I am most trepidatious about creating a successful life on my own terms. This is not going to be easy, but I am committed to doing things that excite me, that I am passionate about. More information to come, but I am probably going to start with you guys... So anyone you know of that needs copywriting or writing done for their business or websites keep me in mind! As well as photos, but more on that later and once I get to Ohio.
I do not know what this next chapter in my life holds for me,
but I sure am ready to figure it out
One day at a time
