10 Steps to Having a Blast at a Medellin Futbol Game

10 Surefire Steps to Becoming Medellin's #1 Soccer Futbol Fans

STEP 1.

Get matching shades with your bestie, drink 2 Aguila's (Colombian beer) and decide it is a good day to become Atletico Nacionals #1 fans

STEP 2.

Purchase tickets.

We purchased them through our hostel, The Happy Buddah. It included transportation, tickets, a drink and a group of built in drinking buddies friends and a guaranteed good time. $25

STEP 3.

Get a jersey to fit in ... duh

The van took us to a random street to purchase jerseys out of a van, super high quality $6 jerseys.. i'm in!

STEP 4.

Steal the Atletico Nacional flags from the van sold you your $6 jerseys from and run through the streets with them.

STEP 5.

Drink 8 beers on the curb in front of a convenient store

Our ride said we had a couple hours next to this jersey van to 'hang out'. Hmm ok!

STEP 6.

Drink a few more Agila's and take some more pictures of yourselves in your new matching shades and jerseys

STEP 7.

Make it to the stadium and get real excited about finding your seats

STEP 8.

Realize there is no alcohol sold in the stadium, panic, then come up with the brilliant idea to compensate with ice cream and Doritos.

and then laugh at the 4 guys in front of you who paid $6 each a non alcoholic beer thinking it was actual beer..

STEP 9.

Try not to get ice cream all over your face

Step 10.

Continue your new status as Atletico Nacionals #1 fans

And there you have it folks.. These 10 steps are a fool proof guarantee to have a tremendous time at a soccer futbol game in Medellin, Colombia.

... ... okay maybe not the biggest futbol connoisseurs, and maybe a certain few of my friends from home (cough, Miguel & Pat) would have relished and appreciated the idea of attending a futbol game in South America a bit more than us, but it was one hell of an experience and I highly recommend it to anyone!
